Hey guys. My brother finally took the plunge and enrolled in driving school. He worked for years in the oil patch and after the most recent bust, Weatherford let him go. Anyway, I have told him which companies to steer away from, but what are some good starter companies for graduates flatbed or dryvan? He isn't afraid of working or getting dirty so that's not an issue just I don't want to see him get out there and not make anything for back home with his family. Much appreciated.

Tell him to get the tanker/hazmat endorsements and try for a tanker company. Several hire new cdl grads.
    Does he live in Chickasha?

Nope opposite corner of okieland lol. Atoka. Tanker is definitely a must although not many service companies hiring. I have my tanker although I haven't used it in 5 years but it does come in handy.

Tell him to submit as many applications as he wants to; the more the better. Also, ignore "experience required" on any of these websites and apply anyway because either the website isn't up to date or they bend their hiring rules. At least get hazmat endorsement and passport card or passport book for Canada runs. Unless he plans to travel overseas, all he needs is the passport card for Canada.
    Flatbed:

    Britton Transport
    Paul Transportation
    Melton Truck Lines
    Keim TS
    Vans & reefers:
    Titan Transfer - dry van
Abilene Motor Express - dry van & some refrigerated
    Freymiller - refrigerated
    Magnum Ltd. - refrigerated
    Schuster - refrigerated
    Tyson Foods - refrigerated
    Carter Express - dry van
Danny Herman Trucking - dry van

Submit job applications during the first week of cdl school. This way he has plenty of time to look them over and pick one and set up orientation as soon as he graduates.

Can any members from Los Angeles or familiar with the city help? I'm a recent CDL graduate looking for local, regional, dedicated positions. Anything with regular home time. Really don't want to go OTR I have a newborn and a sick mom and will only go if it's my only option. Thanks.

Try some LTL companies; good home time:
    Mountain Valley Express
    Wildwood Express
Gardner Trucking may have some local or linehaul.
    Old Dominion Freight Lines
Sygma Network is a food service company and hires new grads.
All the above hire new cdl grads.

@Chinatown have they tried making a dedicated "ask about companies " thread where you just answer every that comes through?
