The best fastest acting medication for high blood pressure I know of is Lisinopril hctz. I have seen people with readings of 180/120 get down to 125-135 over 80 to 85 in just 2 weeks taking it. It actually can work too good and can cause low blood pressure enough to make you dizzy. Make sure you take a Potassium supplement with it.

Why do people accept the blood pressure limits DOT has set ? Or the HOS. I'm not saying everyone should get sleep apnea test but nobody wants the government saying you can't drive because your blood pressure is over 140 but everyone seems to accept it.
When should the government step in and say, in the name of safety we are not letting someone drive ? -
A thought off the top of bat BP is a absolute disqualifier for trucking Medical cards if you do not GET. IT. DOWN. Say 125/85 or so or better.
Usually when I get to the end of month I out of certain medicines which stress the body at 150 over 110 roughly. I don't worry about CDL because Im medically out of that permanently. If you are not in withdawl or craving cigerettes, drugs or drink then you need to consider the stressors present in your food, your daily living, sleep habits and people are around you.
Identify the stressor and get it removed. You may not feel too good knowing that Medical Card BP\s are responsible for saving a number of lives. I prefer to think that these Lives can be usd for Trucking in some form, shape or method. -
It is not the accepting, it is the established medical issue with high BP. It does damage in a vareity of ways and eventually kills you. If you have a MI induced by high BP over a chronic amount of time and your flying dutchman semi with you dead at the wheel kills a family of 5 in front... then... you, the doctors and the rule making has failed them. The public/
Disregarding the problems with the US Government, we generally deal with the States who issue licenses (That is changing right now in Arkansas, the new enhanced license is now mandatory by 2020.)
Not everyone should drive. There are times in my mind and body that is harmed by medicines for the day, I have a friend drive in exchange for a tank of gas and other considerations more than equal to the burned gallons for the trip. If Im under influence of the meds, having someone else drives is a good thing. It protects my freedom as it were. -
Just find yourself a 60mg tablet of Isosorbide mononitrate. Take it 2 hours before physical and you'll have a blood pressure of a 16 year old.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Can't we say the same thing about sleep apnea ? If people have a big neck and high BMI. Then you go to a sleep doctor and they can see if someone has sleep apnea. Just like blood pressure their is a normal rang, a mild, moderate, and severe rang. Doctors know sleep apnea will cause all kinda of secondary effects on our bodies. Not to mention driving tired and you don't even know it because it happens over a long time. We are told stuff like sleeping on demand is good when it's not.Last edited: Oct 4, 2016
