You right. He's not doing research and going with impulse it seems. He needs to slow it down and choose a good outfit.

I changed for expiences since they all ask for at least two years experience, I may just used the first two years for different types of work, I went to do flatbedb for All Star with one hour training, not paid for tarping, pu or drop, no layover pay. Never seen the fancy bonus promised. Got log violation tickets when the weight station fined me for minor errors in the justtrucking software I learned to use the first day.

When I applied for a lease no option position with a car hauler company, they said there is the truck, go practice loading and unloading Your car. After two days, they sent me out to sub haul for United Van Lines. I was clearing $3300 to $3700 every month. This was in 1976. In 1980 deregulation was implemented. This is when cutting the rate started things going downhill in revenue. During my time running 48 states, I put my belongings in storage, lived in the truck, ran 3 logbooks and enjoyed it. During that era you always had to carry cash because if you got a ticket, the cop collected the fine from you before you could leave. They knew you would never appear in court. Most states did not report tickets to your home state DMV.

Extra pay for tarping? It was part of the job. Extra stop paid $10. No such thing as layover pay or detention pay.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
