Look at Nick Strimbu Inc. if you want a Teamsters job. He hires new cdl grads.milehunter43 Thanks this.

I got my start there. The equipment is top-notch and you'll get better training there than you would at just about any other company that takes new grads. The only drawback is that the steel business is rough. You will definitely earn your money. But overall it is a great place to start.

Yeah, it seems like a decent outfit if flatbed interests you, and you want to run hard. Their trucks seem to go 70+mph, and I have yet to see any equipment of theirs that is not in excellent shape. No EZPass though? Saw one of their trucks rolling into the cash lane in PA.
I considered them out of school, but I'm not cut out for flatbed lol. -
I'd like to do flatbed, but I chose an opportunity to be home everyday instead. I know a couple guys went there this year out of cdl school I was in. I don't think I could handle being home for just a 34 hour reset.
-
Same here. If I'm going home, I want to be there for at least 2 days.
-
Since they have no EZ pass would i have to pay out of pocket?
-
They may have gotten it since then, ask them. If they don't, then yes, you'd have to pay the toll out of pocket and get reimbursed.
-
Oh ok thats not a prob as long as i get reinburst
-
When I worked there, the only toll they reimbursed was on the West Virginia Turnpike, since you can't go around it. We would take US 30 all the way to Chicago instead of 80 because it wasn't reimbursed. It was rough because much of 30 was still 2-lane at the time, going through small towns constantly.
That was 13 years ago. I don't know if they have the same policy now. My sense is that it wasn't about saving money. It was about not being tracked as closely, giving drivers more freedom to manipulate their logs.
The worst part of the steel business is the downtime waiting at mills. If you don't cheat, you can't make any money. That whole industry will be screwed when electronic logs become mandatory.Klleetrucking Thanks this.
