Yes....BigRay Is From Tampa.....Getting you home is a challenge, but you become familiar with the drive from Hienz in Ft Myeres to either Masilon OH or
fogelsville, PA. Those are the runs to get you out. I believe BigRay may also become a Trainer as I am. We are the Pensacola non smoking Trainers.

BIGBLUE.....if you insist on trashing May why dont you post your own thread under companies you dont like. I will repeat here that most people that dont like a Company they work for just were not a fit for that Company. There are Many sucessful Drivers at May as there are at most other companies. I guess what Im saying is dont HiJac someones thread to vent your frustrations. Thanx

I work for May and would say the guy who p/u the trailer was at fault. First, during the repower, he's supposed to first qualcom "loaded" macro with B/L in hand. Part of that macro includes not only a need for the B/L number, but also the seal number. If he had looked at the back of the trailer, he would have seen both the seal and lock. The macro also has a y/n question regarding whether or not HE padlocked the trailer doors.

But, having said all this, the mistake really isn't a tragic one. The B/L can be easily faxed to the office of the consignee, and the lock easily cut off at there too when the seal is removed. Locks are a cheap and short-term deterent for theft.

I just switched from the 379 to a 387 too, and agree that the body roll is interesting. I like the transmission of Peterbuilt better than Freightliner, but in general the choice better any of these American made trucks is hardly different between a Ford and a Chevy. Both are surprisingly poorly engineered rattle trap collections of parts. The ergonomics for the driver are particularly poor. These guys need a lesson from Apple computer on how to make the machine match the body and mind of the driver.

I'm still waiting to see these companies turn the engine brake into a generator to recharge a dry cell battery of the type used on a Toyota Prius. The diesel powered APU's are really a dumb idea. I try to reduce my idling and May pays me bonus for this weekly, but I still can only get a max of 7.5mpg overall. Slightly smaller diesel tanks, and a large battery, w/engine brake recharge, for hybrid power assist and climate control seem like no brainers to me. So far, Peterbuilt's promise in the hybrid market is not much.

Wouldn't it be wonderful! I agree! Does Apple computer set you up with a ergonomic chair to go with their computer? hehe I'll buy one!

I have a vision in my head now of a Toyota Prius Semi that has a custom built "ErgoApple" seat with a computer monitor built into the steering wheel, another one in the passenger seat, the bunk and one you can pull out of the truck of course. Trick My Truck, here we go!

I agree... I am reading thru threads for different companies, looking to get back into OTR with a company after three years, and it seems like things are worse, not better for OTR drivers. I am assuming this being a thread for May Trucking it's supposed to be good... but I wonder now...lol. Not much good in here about them it seems from what threads I have read.

Will say this... anyone disrespects me like that and tells me to shut up... can expect back worse. This kind of treatment of drivers is BS, and I don't care who the hell you are.

And as always, thanks to the drivers posting on here... all your comments have been a great help to me. JD (Inthewind)

    minor update.

got my replacement truck. Not a 387 as I'd been told - another 379. Ohhh, just breaks my heart. not.

4253 is the same year, as I recall, as 4230, but the interior package is a bit different, and is taking some getting used to.

First trip out of Peyette was to Las Vegas. Dropped load, sat overnight and most of the next day for the next load - up to Brooks. Got woke up at Brooks to repower a load for Detroit. Odd, since I'm a Western 11 kinda guy. Still, lots of pretty pretty miles, so I said, what the heck.

4253 gets a lot better mileage than 4230. A good 25% better or more. Instead of being happy when I hit 5.3, I'm groovin on 6.3. Not as good as a 387, sure, but a heck of a step up for me!

Then, there's the fact that I have now twice mis-figured my available hours. I'm pulling a 34 just outside of Lincoln NE, at Shoemaker's stop. Wheee! Free wireless!

I let my DM know I'd screwed up - and May re-sched the delivery for me. I like that, but wonder if they should maybe yell at me a bit?

Still, this gives me time to install the CB, put in red lights up front (for night-time map reading), make nice with the booth babes inside (ok, but they're pretty ladies anyway), recharge my phone, and catch up on my webcomic reading (http://www.sluggy.com, http://www.kevinandkell.com, http://www.docrat.com.au). oh, and catch up on TheTruckersReport, of course
