LOL under EU(European) rules driver cannot drive more than 9 h in a day and no more than 56 h in a week.So why would East European drivers drive under European hos rules if US rules are more favorable? Also nobody uses log books over there, all trucks have tachographs installed.
GET A CLUE dude before you write some nonsense.

A lot of local safety training companies and the local college here have actually made rules now stating that if you cannot communicate and understand English or French (written and spoken), they will not provide training. They don't even allow translators in the classroom anymore. Its great IMO because once you're out on the job, there isn't going to be a translator around. Its a major job safety hazard not being able to communicate effectively as far as I'm concerned.

    Get a clue?

    Really guy you're something else.

    Did I say logs?

    Nope I did not.

I said hours of service, which you've provided a clue in another thread to many forum members why we have it.

But that's alright, you don't work for me.

However I had a polish guy and have a Russian couple working for me, they all said our system is easier to understand and has a lot of latitude even under the eld logs. So I go on their word what it is like, not nonsense.

That said, the problem is not with what system we have, it is a problem of skirting the regulations by having poor understanding of our laws on the road.

There have been situations where the translators are actually providing the answers. The instructors / examiners are unaware because they do not speak the language.

I think that was likely a big factor in it. Not that it probably makes any difference. I'm sure you being an Albertan have taken a few safety courses. Impossible to fail unless you really work hard to fail lol.

    You are fighting with yourself.
If our system is easier to understand why so many people asking questions. Stupid questions.
Can driver walk in restroom if he is logged in sleeper or he need to switch to OFF DUTY?
    Just as an example.
Here is screenshot from forum search how many time questions about HOS regulation arises
    2016-10-09 13_04_37-Greenshot.png
Ok let say half questions are from Somalian, Mexican, French speaking Canadians and other non English speaking drivers.
The other half belongs to English speaking? why they asking? Is regulation complicated to much or they can't understand simple rules and laws?

You just contradicted yourself dude.First you said they don't understand hos rules and now you are saying they do because if they said our system is easier then they obviously must understand it.No?
As for "skirting",there is no such thing as "skirting".You either follow rules or you break them.Period.
And if they don't know how to cheat on hos without it being obvious at first or second glance that they are breaking regulations then obviously your russian employees are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

    @Basicbrute -
Columbus, OH is home to the second largest Somali population in the United States behind Minneapolis. There are a ton of Somali truck drivers in my city, as I'm sure there are in Minneapolis.

There are agencies in both cities that serve that population. I bet they have contacts in the trucking business who would be able to point him in the right direction. That community is very tight-knit, and I'm sure they would be happy to help him.
