So I can confirm, if you are in need of confirmation, that large parts of North Carolina are still quite moist in the aftermath of last week's visit from Hurricane Matthew. Moist enough to have major highways flooded and roads closed all over the place.

I left Richmond yesterday morning at 6:30 with a load of ATVs to be dropped off at four different motorsport-enthusiast dealerships in North Carolina. Shoulda hit my first delivery at 9:30am.

And then I kept running into the flooded roads and the closed roads and wound up having to play "Make the GPS try to figure out where we are and how to get to where we need to be" game. Took me an extra 90 minutes to get to my first delivery. Then it took me an extra 90 minutes to get to my 2nd delivery, because I had to go back through all the flooded roads I'd just passed through.

Finally finished everything three hours later than I shoulda, and spent the night in the tiny parking lot of my last stop, waiting for the morning so I could deadhead back to Richmond.

Currently sitting in Hill Phoenix waiting for a new load assignment.

Well, after just coming out of Naples FL yesterday morning with a load I dropped in Ellenwood, I got an MT to drag to Forrest City. But got swapped with an HP load coming to Sams Club in Jackson FL. Got here at 12pm and theres about 30+ Trucks waiting since 7am. Have another load after this for pulling GA paper back to the yard. Don't think that'll be happening today.

Let her run. She's young and I suppose has no responsibility at home. She'll burn out sooner or later. Or her miles may drop. Or not. As long as I get my 5500-6000 per pay period I couldn't care less what everyone else is doing. I'm old and have things I have to do other than truck. Now if I could just get off nights and get home (supposed to be home today for Sunday-Tuesday. Not happening.)

 

I'm at the one on 10, next to the DMV lot and Shipper's Choice. Whichever one that is.

 

I will be joining the team a week from Monday. I passed my physical yesterday. I was hoping to be there Wednesday but it was near impossible to get a physical in this area. I have been following this thread for some time and have read every post. You all seem like a great group and I am looking forward to joining you.

No load assignment yet, and the yard jockey just told me I can't sit here in my tractor. So I think I'm gonna go drop this trailer over with the empties and bobtail home for a shower and some lunch.
