I was always amazed that any mechanic would quit a steady, indoor job at a dealership or truck assembly plant to become a self-employed mobile truck mechanic. I was grateful for them, and held the flashlight in zero degree weather on the shoulder of the Interstate in the middle of the night. I paid their bill and never felt overcharged. A few of them took a nip from a bottle to keep warm, but I could not join them in that.

We have a young fella up here in Butte ,MT that does that. He seems to make a good living at it and does very good work. His father used to be a company road mechanic and I guess he picked up after his father ,except he went independant. Its nice to know there are people like them who are willing to come help when help is needed!!

It is to bad that they didn't show the buses. They had that artical in the Evansville Courier and Press two weekends ago.
Here is the link to the story from a different paper with pictures.

Mobile mechs have saved my rear a couple of times.

My brother used to have a repair truck in the Spartanburg,SC area. As far as I'm concerned, all of these guys earn their money, and then some. All hours of the day and night, all kinds of weather conditions....
