So I work for Coke doing bulk, and I had to take a "long" trip to cover for another plant that was down a driver...
About 1hr and 45 mins one way...
Hat's off to you OTR boys who drive 11 hrs a day... My back started hurting and I kept fighting off sleep with monster drinks...
How do you guys do it?

It is what you get use to doing. For me the key was going to prison and spending months alone in the "hole."
Ooops, rabbiporkchop, Bob Dobalina and 6 others Thank this. -
sun flower seeds and keep my eyes moving, also have a good seat works
Bob Dobalina, lonewolf4ad, Riffman and 1 other person Thank this. -
You have a endurance challenge. 11 hours is not that big of a deal. Wait until you realize that California is still 4 days away. And some of that you will be driving nights. A total flip flop of your sleep cycle.
2 hours is just getting out of town, settling in. 600 miles is a good work day. Get a little sleep but not too much because you still have 2400 miles to go and not much time to do it.
We OTR people rate our tired when it's a friday night and time to party with friends at home but you choose to go to bed and rest up instead.
The entire Nation becomes your stomping grounds. Instead of say Baltimore to... DC and back for half a day local work, you are considing Baltimore to at least Indianpolis for tonight, And expect to be closing in on Omaha the second day. Or if you are a team like we were, we expect to be out of Avenel NJ Friday midday and be in LA monday early if not the night before. Back to Avenel by Wed. And back in LA lord willing friday evening. 7000 miles or so in the hours allowed to your driving for both of you.
That kind of trucking becomes a narcotic in a way when those fat pay checks roll in too much to spend in a weekend.Ke6gwf, Lepton1, Asphalt Cowboy 33 and 5 others Thank this. -
You started falling asleep even with monster drinks all over under 2 hours?
Im not even OTR but wow bro... -
Never slept much.. Even as a baby. Think I was made for this stuff lol
I run a nightly run of 500 miles and commute 110 miles round trip. Stay up all day and cat nap. Get tired sometimes but most of the time I'm up wide awakeBob Dobalina Thanks this. -
Its not the driving part I dislike, actually I am somewhat excited to start my day when I see long miles and will keep my wheels rolling..But Its all the down time, pointless breaks, scaling, fueling (waiting for others to finish their break, so i can fuel), and specially parking. I went back to being dedicated and running nights, becouse of all those reasons. OTR is very very stressful.

1 hr and 45 minutes is around 100 miles. That's like a trip around the block, lol. Or maybe you drive to other plant 1hr and 45 min away then do long trip.it does take getting use to but once your body is adjusted to it,it becomes routine day after day.

Cuz i look bad in a blue vest
Boattlebot, tech10171968 and Hamburger71 Thank this. -
Yep, pretty much, I consider 200 miles is almost there. Couple more episodes of some podcast and couple more replays of titanic theme song, and we there.Mark_2wain, MachoCyclone and pattyj Thank this.
