Hey y'all,
I've been browsing around this site for a while now, and have finally decided to create an account and say hi!
I am an aspiring truck driver from southeast Texas on my eighth and final week of my CDL course done by a local technical school, and I will be testing for my Class A CDL this coming Monday. I have a job lined up as an OTR driver for Schneider National, and I will be attending orientation in Dallas on November 1st. I hope to use them as a stepping stone to establish myself and to learn the skills needed to succeed in this industry.
This path is not just some fallback from another failed career for me. This is something I've always wanted to do, and I am serious about success. I love big trucks, I love the road, and I am a single 21 y/o man with no family obligations, so I have good vibes about this path. I may not know completely what I'm getting myself into, but that's life, and I plan on making the best out of it, regardless.
Anyways, thank y'all for taking the time to read my excessive rambling. I hope y'all are having a great evening!!

Welcome aboard. This is a good time of year for you to be with a trainer. Not sure if youve ever driven or seen snow but youll be glad to have a trainer when you do run into snow and ice. Lots of people get on the megas pretty hard here but they can be great for new guys. Pretty sure schneider has a program where new drivers have open ended delivery times for first six months. That can make learning the ropes infinitely easier. Anyways good luck on your test.

Thanks, y'all! And I have experienced snow once a few years ago down here! We got a whopping quarter inch of snow, which caused mayhem for us people used to 60 degree winters, haha. So driving in actual snow will be something quite new for me.

It aint that big a deal, slow and steady and smooth. I remember working in Carrizo when it got around 32 degrees one night. Guys were wearing ski masks and ski gloves lol. The mud down there is probably worse and trickier to drive in. Schneider has a tanker division. Might be good to have under your belt when the oil industry picks up again. So many options in trucking.
