Years ago I was east bound in I-94 when a west bound Michigan trooper made a u-turn through the median and pulled me over. The license plate on my employer's Freightliner was on a hinged mount below the front bumper. The trooper claimed he could not read the plate because wind was blowing the plate. I told him it came from the factory that way.
I received a ticket with instructions to fix the plate mounting. After modifying the mounting bracket the next time I was home, I had to bobtail to a police station and have any officer sign off on the ticket with his badge number. Then, the ticket was mailed to the state indicating the repairs had been made. There must be thousands of license plates on hinged mounts, but I found the one trooper who cared. -
There are guys all over that area evading the tolls. Usually the traffic is so heavy that they get away undiscovered. You can't get away with it going over the East River crossings though. There is a gate that will not open until your EZPass is read or you pay the toll in cash. If you don't have the money, they take your license on the spot and turn you around to find an ATM to get your license back.
