    K. So maverick glass division will take make (winder, ga 30680) (moving in January closer to atlanta area ) with having no-very little experience in this area? Do they have weekends off? I need Saturday and Sunday off with family. Thank you

McElroy is the only one you'll consistently be home on the weekend, or more like a 34 hr reset. The mega flatbeds are all the same. Have to do your 6 mth - year of indentured servitude to get a better gig. Don't go for % pay as a newbie. I know from experience. Low % of cheap freight equals low pay. Good luck I may see ya at McElroy I haven't applied yet.

McElroy is good. Pay by miles is the best pay. Thanks. You too. Just trying to make the best decision for my family and I. Hometime, benefits, pay, family time, etc... Do you think that they will hire me with having no-little experience but have my cdl since 2012?

If you have your CDL already and you have any choice in the matter, I would try Melton first. And whatever you hear people say, I am currently at Swift's Corsicana academy. Their training is not the joke everyone makes it out to be. I'm on day two and out of 24 people, we will be starting tomorrow with 15. Just like that. Try Melton first but if they don't take you, Swift really isn't nearly as bad as I expected based on reviews. Many butthurt rejects out there I think. So far it has been pretty challenging and we are just now going to the range tomorrow for straight line backing. If you fail the test on Thursday, you get sent home.

Not exactly how you would expect it to be, when you hear other people tell it.

Maverick will get you home at least every two weeks. If you want every weekend at Avertitt's flatbed is guaranteed.

I enjoyed my time with them. I was there 2 1/2 years. I was pulling dedicated for the Lowes account in Hagerstown,MD. Talking with a lot of the OTR guys that would come in they were all pretty happy.

Been with McElroy for several months; great folks; great company; definitely get you home on Friday.....often don't leave until Monday morning...but mostly Sunday after 1500......Pay could be better, but they just announced a two cent pay raise per mile for every bracket...and drivers during their training weeks are being raised from 500 to 550 per week.....The training they put you through at their Cuba terminal is top notch and well organized.....and the trainer I got was the best.....I was more than ready for my own truck.....I'm enjoying it......
