550 a week net roughly, for about three months. The payroll was a narcotic. Sometimes more, much more becuause 3 to 6 loads a day delivered paid anywhere from say 38 dollars all the way to almost 90 for loads sent 250 miles into VA. Minus speeding tickets that started at 45 for 10 over and increased to about what the load paid at 15. Just don't bust dear smokey at 90 = mandatory arrest. (We would pound the legion bridge on the md/va in the two left lanes early prior to rush at 100 plus so.. that is one reason these herds got banished to the two right lanes.
That was for Hahn Bulk Cement. New Market. Md. In the late 80's
Container work out of Port East of Baltimore. Get out of town at 2 am, get to Norfolk by 8, SIT and SIT and SIT and SIT. Maybe a box back to Baltimore for 10 pm or even midnight. This was my first brush with reality. Zero net. Everything I made which was very little went into the Petro Doswell for Breakfast and then dinner. Coming and going. Plus smokes and so on. -
Jesus, I made that working for a bio diesel manufacturer in 14/15 . all I did was drive truck, run hose, suck fry oil.
My new tank gig is paying me $25/ hr.

I did and I honestly don't think you could ask for more from a starting 'mega' company. A lot of their newer rigs are getting the autos, or so I've heard. The in-cab camera was never a deal breaker for me but if it is for you then you should look elsewhere.
I did three years, got my experience, moved on to more hometime and higher pay. Melton treated me like family though, absolutely no complaints.Longhalltrucking8 Thanks this. -
