    Something worth pointing out here is how interesting it is that anyone in the world can move here and become an American. Nobody is moving to Japan and becoming Japanese.

    I have lived in more than a dozen countries, I never said most or even many speak English. I said many speak multiple languages. Why not us? Arrogance?

    Here is where you're wrong, sir.

    Nobody is demanding that everyone "instantaneously" learn English. Such a task would be Herculean.

    However, here in this country it is expected that people at least make an attempt to assimilate. There are classes of people who for some reason can't be bothered to do that.

    Tend toward the dramatic? No one said they should learn our language "instantaneously" and no one expects everyone should adapt to us. But if you want to be here you should adapt and if we expect to live in another country we should expect to adapt to them. I can't imagine moving to a foreign country and demanding they learn my language. To me it's common sense.

    Im guessing he's running the border towns for those asking why he's asking if he runs the states. When i get to the shipper or receiver down there the first question I ask is...english? Three questions later I know what to do.
