That's on paper "legal seperation" however your right I was right.

SLI gets load from customer then sends load to SNI customer service who does all the load info for us ( what a broker does for customer ) then it's posted for choice ( what a broker offers drivers ) then load is selected and info sent to driver ( broker does for driver ) load is picked up and delivered we complete qualcomm work we're done.

Only thing CS doesn't do that a broker does on choice is pay us directly.

Point is we have to go thru ICR who takes to ICA if needed who then goes to CS who then contacts customer.

With a broker you call broker broker calls customer and alot of times except for money issues the broker will give you customer direct contact info.

We make ourselves believe it's easier to point and click or drop and hook but if we are honest with ourselves we'd admit we just don't want to learn a new system and take that risk.

Pointing and clicking to me is a cop out...I loved calling and talking to agents... especially the females. Once you build a relationship with them they look for you before they even put the load out.. many times at Mercer I'd get calls before I was empty. Not to mention you can negotiate the rates especially if the agent is in a bind... Like I've always said if you find dealing with agents and brokers to be difficult then you have no social skills and you'll always be reliant on sni choice for the point and click.. But make no mistake CS is a form of an agent. You just can't talk to them or negotiate more money

Does right now really seem like a good time in this industry to "take a risk"?

Maybe not. Unless you have the stomach for it. Buy low sell high right? Could also be a great time to get your foot in the door and established in anticipation of a recovering freight market. All comes down to risk tolerance, but I do get what your saying.

Logistics is basically a pricing and capacity arm. Once the apm/Oracle Transportation Management software says Schneider is at capacity in a market they start farming stuff out. If we're under they solicit freight.

Once it's booked CS takes over. They handle appts, etc.

Once the load is done CS handles billing.

All of this is grossly oversimplified. It's comparable to a junior high American history course. The highlights are there but all the complicated, cool stuff gets dropped because of time. In this case I dropped it because my thumbs are too big and my keyboard to small.
