Tossing those straps over a tall hay load on a windy day can make a good man curse.

I only ever did one load of hay that was 'supposed' to get tarped. Farmer got me and my tarps up on top of the hay,.. he said he had to run back to his house for a "Minute",.. he'd be right back. I had the tarps laid out like I wanted. Was up there for the better part of 4 hours,.. farmer never came back. I'm terrified of heights,.. and were it not for the fact that I had to poop,.. I probably would have been up there all night freezing. I grabbed hold of a tarp,.. tried my best to ease off the side,.. dropping down 14ft with a thud is never pleasant,.. especially when your 6'1 and 300lbs.

After I took care of 'business',.. I was so pissed,.. this was in south dakota,.. it had gotten cold,.. I hate being cold,.. I balled the tarps up on my catwalk and left. Delivered it untarped. I have never tarped hay since. Soon as the broker says hay load,.. and tarp,. I hang up. I dont care what its paying.

Id have the mind to unstrap and test the vertical stability of my trailer at his fron door for that!

 

48. 10 top. Got gun shy last year bout signing on a new one bc some work had fell thru. Instead bought the first used one I found. Closed non slider. Heavy, pulls good n has been good for jobsites. Center of the tandem is bout equal to where the center of the from axle is on a 10' spread to the rear.

 

Went on a rescue mission today.
A buddy of mine bought a small chisel plow about 3 hours south. He made it half an hour towards home and cooked a wheel bearing. It ate up the hub/spindle pretty bad.
Spent the better part of a day getting nothing done but that free prime rib was worth it.

Got one just like her, except its a 10' spread. Dont hardly ever use it anymore, but man its a hell of a good old trailer. 2002 model and i never pulled it in the winter. Good shape. The axles are slid up a little. Good for tight places, but sucks keeping weight on the drives. Its easy to overload the trailer axles. I just use it for local stuff nowadays if any...

 

I don't put weight on very often. It is a pain in the ### being that I really gotta shove things forward to make it right. New ones are spreads.

 

I wasnt very happy with him. I had to go by his house to leave and all his lights were out. He wasnt even home. I'm guessing he had some kind of emergency to forget about me like that. Thats what I tell myself.

As for the vertical stability of my trailer,.. I know how to rock it.

I picked up some of those over sized large off road truck tires. Took them to a strip mine in Ilinois. I got there at 3:45pm on a Friday,.. they said the operator to unload me had gone home,.. he would unload me on Monday. I had called that morning and they said as long as I made it there before 4pm I would get unloaded. I had a weekend load waiting for me. I cant remember the last time I was so angry.

I put my truck at a 90 degree angle to my trailer,.. put it in 3rd gear and let it eat. 5th wheel locked on the back of the frame,.. all but 1 tire came off. 2 more tugs and it was on the ground too.

Right!!!! I let a buddy use it one time, and he was all upset and confused because it was really heavy on the trailer axles. i said man look, i know it doesnt look like it makes much difference on this trailer, but its a beeeech. You HAVE to keep everything moved as far up as you can.

Its kinda of deceiving untill you get used to the trailer. Yours being a closed tandem moved up like that it kind of reminded me of my trailer. I knew youd relate @Ruthless. Lol
