Newer consoles require fairly powerful inverters. For example, I believe a ps2 can run on a ~250 watt inverter, whereas a PS4 will likely demand 600 or more. All TVs are about 170 watts by themselves. A laptop that can handle the latest games is very expensive and has poor battery life, but can run on even the cheapest inverters.

Not true about newer consoles requiring more power.

Original PS4 required 250 watts, newest PS4 released in September 2016 uses up to 165 watts.

All TVs is a pretty blanket statement.

Modern electronics are more energy efficient than in the past unless you are buying the cheapest LCD screen TV in which case the statement about "all" tvs running 170 watts by themselves may be true.

I'm not sure what is "not true" about what I said.

The things that cause tvs to draw power haven't changed. There isn't some magic part that will cause one to draw less wattage than one of similar size and resolution that is a few years older. The variables among tvs - screen size and resolution - tend to be limited by the available space in the bunk. Sure, an older model 100 inch dlp is going to draw a lot more power than a brand new 19 inch 720p flat screen will, but those things are literally larger than some household kitchens. Most drivers aren't going to have larger than a 24 inch 1080p, which draws about 175 watts. Don't take my word for it...go look it up.

250 watts is a lot of power for a gaming device when you consider that you can use a laptop on just 25 watts, and a ps2 on about 80. I wasnt talking out my rear here: setups ive helped others with have been able to run on a 250 watt inverter for the ps2. They required 600 watts for a PS4. Btw, 175 + 250 = 425, so even with no margin for surge or to charge a cell phone, you are using twice the inverter for the PS4. The setup I helped my brother install for PS4 involved a 600 watt inverter, but you could possibly use as small as a 450 watt one just going by the numbers.
