I'm still going to look into line haul and LTL. I'll stay to get enough experience with the training companies

You think you have issues now, crap run under a deadline to get things picked up. Get a customer like one of mine where they expect you to be there before 3 and if you show up later, they are on the phone screaming at your company and telling you that they won't load your truck but want another driver there.

The easiest work in this industry is OTR, it is just load, and go.

Isn't that the truth though.I went from OTR to local to help dad care for mom and I hated it.Now I'm done driving for now till my health improves if it even does. But you know what,i don't miss driving at all,the local side anyway.OTR,i wouldn't mind doing that again or even regional but not right now.

We sold our old father's house in probate after 9 months in Fairbanks. The oil bill ranged from 800 to 1400 per month. We paid it cheerfully. It all worked out with a small profit in the end. But it was one of the most expensive probate situations we ever been in. It was about 12,500 dollars in charges versus around 72,000 in assets. No taxes plus two alaska rebates of 1200 oil annual income. So that helped.

Im sorry to hear that. We are caregiving for the one mother whose likely to drop dead or be warehoused by the State once one of us burn out so completely we refuse to care anymore. The problem was She filed against her Ex's income via social security and got it. Increased her income from a standard 600 something per month to around 1350 per month filing spousal benefits.

The price is she gave up ALL medicaid that will give her a thousand caregivers to help us out. So it's 16 dollars an hour for them per caregiver 24/7 At what cost do we fight a losing battle? I have never seen someone with 6 individual lethal health conditions that compete to kill her quickly and she will out live us all, but there is a real threat of alzhimers onset, her mind is going.

I did not mean to share my burden. When someone is really sick and is stubborn to remain in charge and live life properly enjoying things she always enjoyed... even while that knowledge slips away...

It's really hard. Im putting on a virtual armor against the day we ask the State to take care of her. Because there is a law that says no one is to be allowed to live in filth uncared for. When that person is fianlly and utterly broke.

Is the old woman's former husband a military veteran? My father did 6 yrs. in the Army and was medically discharged due to injuries during WWII in North Africa fighting "The Desert Fox" Rommel's Nazi tanker forces. When my mother needed assisted living facilities, the Army paid for it or maybe the VA. She had a private room with private bath and cafeteria right down the hall with waitresses. Meals were included. Anyway, it enabled her to live in a very nice facility that most can't afford.
The reason I mention this is because if her husband is a vet, maybe she's qualified for assistance.

Mom was sick and passed in the hospital after a 4 yr long battle. Now I'm taking care of my dad so he doesn t end up in a nursing home.I can do things long as it doesn't require standing, lifting or walking very far.For example I can mow the yard because we have a riding lawn mower. My brother or neighbor pulls the weeds.Come winter the neighbor kid is going to do the shoveling.
