Looks like I'll be getting a 34 in. They want me to take a load from the yard to Memphis. The load is on its way from California. It's supposed to deliver tomorrow at 1300. But that's not going to happen. I'm been running recaps for the past 2wks. So I'm not complaining to much. Just sitting and waiting is boring. Hopefully after this load I can be routed home. Been having problems with the truck. My primary air tank drops below 100 psi then builds and then drops again. Had the shop look at it. They say it's not leaking when it's just sitting. That it might be when you're hooked to the trailer. And that the problem is on the trailer. I don't think that's really it. I was bobtail lastnight. So this morning when I started the truck my primary tank was below 60 but my secondary was at 100 and rising. After idling my psi finally raised to 120. I'm keeping an eye on my tanks more. If push come to shove I will take it to a ta. This the second time this truck then had a leak.

Well just messaged night dispatch to see what the eta was for the load to get here. Their reply load is here check with local. Local is on break. So my next question is if it's here; how long it been here?

Get under your airtanks, there should be two maybe even three if it's a bonus.

Run your hand carefully over the brass valving and hoses, get a squirt bottle with dish soap and water,. Start spraying while following your lines.

I bet you there is a leak at the valve on one tank somewhere, your primary likely or... you have a trailer or drives brake chamber not recieving air because that hose which feeds it specifically is itself leaking. If you find it's leak, you can get a locking pliers with the big screw on the back to fold that air line which feeds the leaking chamber over onto itself like a closed book, then use zip ties about 3 of them to tie it shut. Once you isolate that chamber from it's air leaking hose or supply from the pot tank in the axle group your air situation should improve until you get to a shop.

It's really hard to type and use words to express what Im trying to suggest. You would be surprised at how many leaks are at the brass valves that got hit a little bti and on the local air lines feeding each brake chamber from it's axle group pot tank.

Thanks I will try that. I have 3 tanks under the steps and one in the center of the frame.

Found out my load been here since this morning. Nobody said a word. I'm going to complete my 34 then roll out.

Delivered my load in Memphis. Was 10mins late but was given a door right away. Took them 45mins to unload. Got my next load assignment to pick up in greenville,ms. I let them know I'm going to be tight on time to get there. Dispatcher tell me when I get close just off duty drive. I can't do that because my 14hrs are almost up. I wouldn't have the time to get their and do a pti/drop swap. I would be in violation. I already got a warning because i went over once. I really don't want to hear from log audit if i can help it. So parked at a loves 30miles away. Will pick up in the morning. Then head to waco.

Get the name of that dispatcher who told you to off duty drive. Turn that information in when people start demanding and yelling why did you not make the pickup against your 14 hour rule.

I explained to him why I will not risk my license. He been a good dispatcher for me. But he doesn't really understand how hos work. And besides I found out you can't off duty drive under dispatch anyway.

Hm. That's good. Most dispatchers wont sit long enough to be taught anything. Might want to keep that one Sir and maybe train him up. He will be a good doggie to keep around.

I had one dispatcher once who was all of 23 out of the Army no less. His view of trucking in wars overseas was roll until you drop and roll some more. We were a team and had to spend a few minutes teaching him that we can do this but not that and why. But dear lord going to memphis twice a day from Little Rock was all of 10 hours and then some. Every time.

I wish I could keep him. After 60 days of being solo in will get a new dispatcher. He only get the guys that just upgraded. He listen more than the others though. So now he just say do what I can do. If something don't work in my favor he will see what he can do.

Been having some problems with night and weekend dispatch. It's like they don't read the notes in the system or they don't put any in there. Was preplanned a load that needs to be delivered tonight. I can't make otd because they told me at the last minute. So now I'm at the yard assigned to a local load that's due Monday. Got two stops. Fort Worth and Dallas. Then hopefully something going home.

Night and weekend dispatch are literally for lack of a better concept two people sitting on a computer with the ball game going in the TV in the far corner. Nothing really matters to them unless you have a driver that sent "Shots fired." over the QC.

Night dispatch do not have the full authroity that day dispatchers do. What night dispatchers will do is spend some time with you via QC if there is a need to. I once was working a very long haul and was into my third night where it become a real possibility I have to stop and night dispatch provided some western poetry that was fitting and good food for thought that night. It's not much of a help but it was enough.

I still say you should try to "Keep him" Im somewhat feeling off because it was not long ago I wanted to hang him. Heh. If you cannot keep him then find out from him which dispatcher you want that is good as him. Then go get it.

Here is a tip, if you work west, say Denver or Phoenix, the quieter dispatchers are nicer dispatchers. Slower too. Not as predatory as say Chicago.

I here you on that. I will see if I can keep him or see who he would recommend. As for as night and weekend, now I will only message them if I absolutely need something. Sometimes I just want to bang my head against the wall dealing with them lol.
