A lot of roads change their names after crossing a certain point/street. Here we have South Montana Ave and North Montana Avenue and they are the same #### road all the way through town.

They are trying to avoid tolls. The actual short route is to take US54 east at Tucumcari, NM. At Pratt,, KS go North on KS61 to US 50E in So. Hutchinson, then US50 to Emporia, KS where you catch I-35 north to KC. Then Loop around KC to I-70 east to I-57 north in Illinois to I-80 east to Gary, There is the small toll into Indiana, but most companies accept that.

Go all the way up to 80, because going east on 30 there is a 13-6 bridge in Chicago Heights.. yeah, you got to pay the toll on 294, but it is by far the fastest way to Gary.
