72 was a good speed, the 120 in my avatar did that on grapevine as loaded at that speed for most of the upgrade anyhow. Used to be teased on the radio, there goes Dowdy, again. If I remember right, the left two lanes were verboten. But hollywood's set of main street between two closed sections of 5 was not once or twice.

Lessors inc. 65 on pedal,and 67 cruise.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Praxair Services, most trucks are governed at 65, but mine is 64. I really don't care, because they stress safety over speed so I have a very relaxed day behind the wheel.

Pulling an HM tanker you're usually paid by the hour anyway. Nice and slow and a huge following cushion is the way to pull that trailer.

All if p&s transportation and their subsidiaries are gov at 65

Actually, I am paid by the mile. Running the areas that I do, 64 is right up against the speed limit, so it's not like I'm losing anything there. We do real well rate wise, so there is no pressure to get from point A to point B and still have a good paycheck. It's taking me awhile, but learning to slow down wasn't nearly as easy as I thought it would be.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Slowing down is actually one of the toughest mastery a driver can potentially be asked to do.
Ive done slow. IN hazmat of whatever the trailer is back there Ive gone even slower.
For me, it's boredom mixed with terror. Got 600 miles to go to Chicago tonight and It's not going to make it legally without a team because we diddled too much driving here and there loading. -
Last thing they want you doing is driving like a FedEx Ground or UPS maniac with a big tube of liquid yucky stuff. You roll a trailer full of grandmas xmas presents and its a minor catastrophe. You roll a Haz tanker and it's going to cost somebody millions.

I get 6.8 at 70 mph....me happy.

I pay the bills, so I wouldn't be. I even try to up the average 7.93 I have gotten for the last 615,000 miles in my present truck. Rather put money in my wallet than send it out the stacks. No clue how fast my truck will run, only been up to 80 mph once. I am more concerned with keeping my expenses for fuel and tires low.
fargonaz Thanks this.
