    I received a pre-hire from Valley Transport. I know a pre-hire also means conditional.
I was wondering if any drivers could give me the good and bad of the company. I've heard they take good care of the trucks. Any information is very much appreciated.

    Thanks

I worked for them a while back when I first started driving. Left there for an LTL job. Be ready to work a lot of long hours driving and waiting for loads (they don't pay layover or delay). You normally will be out Monday-Friday with weekends off. They pay percentage of the load which is 25%. Your average check will vary over the course of the week. One week you can make decent money and the next just sucks!!. Training pay is not ANYTHING to write home about. Any damages come out of your pocket like curbing tires or bending a rim so keep that in mind especially since its winter and you have no experience. Honestly take a look at an LTL company like OD, YRC, ABF, Conway, SAIA. A while back when I got out of school you needed at least a year in OTR to get an interview. My how things have changed. You can get a job with any of these places right out of school making way better money and not out for 5 days living in a truck.

Overall my trainer at Valley was a great guy to learn from and so were many others that worked there. Yes the equipment is decent but you will not be driving one of those new trucks. Yours will be an older model Volvo (it won't be junk) because your new and who can blame them. They take load securement very seriously so pay attention to your instructor if you decide to work there. Hopefully your making the most of your schooling and getting all the endorsements like Doubles, HAZMAT, TWIC, Tanker. Those endorsements add up to a good living down the road.

    Airborne Thanks this.

If you are asking that, just stay away from driving all together...I have more to say but I'm sure several others will be along shortly and have plenty more to say

I think all companies should hair test. Clean is clean.

6 months is enough time to prove that you can be clean? Yeah I don't think so.
