Thanks RM... I usually don't even bother with these Ice Road Trucker Show threads...but occasionally I have this UNRELENTING need to set the record straight. It just DRIVES me what Hollywood has done to destroy this profession!

I wonder how many times you have to tell them only Canadians can get the jobs. After all, I saw only 2 shows of this season. On both it clearly states that fact.
You made the comment on our CDL's not being accepted in Canada. Is this only for hiring with the co's up there? -
I've never had any problem having my CDL accepted either working up there or passing through.

Ok,
As someone who lives in WI I resemble that comment. My understanding of Canadian law is you can only get IF no Canadian can be found to perform the job. -
Hi Tech YA, Drill a hole measure wit a Stanley tape measure. I hat that show. Maroons they are, spend all their time badmouthing ea other and driving pure junk. It's just another trucking job, cold miserable, lonely and bone rattling with a lot of dark. Ever been where it was 40-50 below and the wind blowing 30 MPH? Sounds like BBs rolling over glass and boy, try to take a p.

Brrrrrrrrr!!! I shrank 2"s just thinking about it. Minnesota is bad enough. Can' t imagine how much colder it is up there on a bad day.

I bet ice road trucking is easier than highway driving.
1) No shyte for brains in four wheelers to worry about.
2) No log book to tend to.
3) No scales/DOT men to deal with.
4) No due yesterday appointments to keep. -
Our licensing system is done by Class, some provinces have letters some have Numbers. I only know about Alberta, so here if you want to drive a truck you get a Class One. That enables you to drive anything on the road, except a motorcycle. In Alberta it is mandatory to have an Air brake endorsement. Meaning you have to have a working knowledge of Air brake systems & KNOW how to set your brakes properly, etc. -
Since you have NEVER worked on those roads you have NO idea what you are talking about!

Wildkat Thanks this.
