Earlier today, I stopped at the Flying J in Brunswick, GA to refill the coffee cup and get a snack. I just happened to see the ice cream cooler next to the registers and thought, 'Hell yeah... that sounds good!' So after perusing the choices, I select a pint of Cherry Vanilla and proceed to the register.

The cashier rings me up and says, "That'll be $7.29".

WTF??? Did I just hear her correctly? Seven dollars and friggin twenty nine cents for a pint of ice cream? Whoever sets the price for this stuff must have been kickin' back with the glass pipe!

I questioned her on the price and she says, "The ice cream is six bucks," as she hit the key to deduct the price of the coffee off my Frequent Fueler card.

Ahhh, thanks but no thanks... keep your ice cream... I don't need it that bad.

    WiseOne and Hilltop Thank this.

That better be some #### good ice cream for $6.....
Last summer I stopped at a Mom and Pop somewhere in Texas (Katy?) and the ladt tried to charge me almost $7 for a coffe and thermos refill. I asked her where she wanted me to dummp it out, because I darn sure wasn't paying that for anyone's coffee, especially when it's weak enough to read the freakin newspaper through.:biggrin_25516:

I wonder how Flying J stays in business with their overpriced crap? I'd bet that a lot of people are like me...

I fuel at the Flying J because that's where my boss says to fuel.

I shower at the Flying J because it's free (and usually cleaner than most).

I get coffee (only since they got the new coffee makers) at the Flying J because it's free. But, when I don't have any free coffee left on my card, I stop at Love's (eighty five cents).

I occasionally eat in the restaurant if I have enough coupons to cover the cost. The food there isn't good enough to spend real cash. Sans coupons, I stop at Love's, Pilot or Hess and get Wendy's or McDonald's... sometimes Arby's.

If I want a quick snack or a cold drink, I stop at Love's or Pilot (cheaper and a LOT BETTER selection of snacks).

    Are you listening Flying J?

I need an icecream truck and head out to across the street from the FlyingJ next town over! And a coffee maker :yes2557: I've always thought that truck stops have gouged the drivers, whew! Sounds like they are doing it now with backhoe instead of a spoon.

It is one of the reasons that truckstops fight to stop rest areas from growing. They want to keep sticking their high prices to the drivers. No wonder Walmart has more trucks in their lots anymore.

I've wonder about our government. They shut down rest areas, lower the speed limit so truckers are on the road for longer periods of time and police write a ticket if you pull off the road on an off ramp or wide spot to get caught up on your log books or check equipment or just take a bathroom break! It's like "they" WANT you to screw up on the road.

And truckstops take advantage of this :biggrin_25510:
