This is what will show up on your recored if you have an expired medical card.

It should be titled, expired medical card, but thats not how the DOT will write it up.

It will raise concerns with insurance companies, brokers, employment to say the least

AND what are you getting at?

The rules are now that if you let your med card expire, your cdl is suspended so it is driving it without a license - cdL

People that read your record might think the following,

    He doesn't have a license.
He was driving a truck that he was never license for or trained.
    DUI maybe.

So if you self-certified you have a valid Medical Card and it expires they can Suspend or Revoke your CDL at the state level in which your license is issued.

Now the LEO has the ability to see your driving record.

You can see your Driver License status online via your State DMV website. NC is it free.

    <<>>

CDL holders, who are found driving in a category other than one to which they self-certified, are subject to suspension or revocation of their commercial driving privileges. CDL drivers, who do not update the expiration date of their ME Certificate with their State, will have their commercial driving privileges downgraded, and will not be eligible to drive a commercial motor vehicle that requires a CDL

I fail to see the problem. If the driver is that sloppy with something so vital to their continued employment, what else are they sloppy with? It's not like these things are a surprise.

Could be a simple snafu with the paperwork. Couple years ago, I faxed my form to the state. Few weeks later, a letter shows up in the mail stating the medical examiner put the wrong number on the form. Had I been OTR, I may not have known about the issue until it was too late, but being a local guy I was able to swing by the doctors office and get it corrected and fax the new form to the state in a timely manner.

But it is still incumbent on the driver to make sure the right paperwork gets to the right location in a timely manner. Having said that I don't understand why CDL licenses and medical forms are separate. Under our system, as long as I have had my license (35-ish years), it is not possible to have a Class 1 without a medical. A current medical is required in order to renew the license (every two years at my age, every five years for younger). So, I need to ensure I schedule a medical prior to renewing my license--which I can do immediately after the medical... easy-peasy.

What happened to me was the medical card had the wrong date entered into the system. Nothing I could do about it.

I don't see the problem, I understand maybe one in 30,000 would have an issue with an exam being not registered but overall, most who have this issue (including me by the way) tend to forget to get the examine done. Yes me, so it isn't the fault of the system outside the fact that the rule shouldn't exist but rather the driver.

In utah. The ability to look online at your cdl isn't available. Only non cdl holders can renew and order their mvr and what not. Unless it's been changed recently.

Your license can also be suspended if you don't renew your hazmat fingerprints. As mine is due in the middle of my 5 year license.

Medical for 5 years for the younger generation. When did that happen?. I thought everyone was 2 years. Medically qualified of course.
