The OP said that he paid $70 to get the drug screening done. If that's the case wouldn't the company reimburse him if he paid for it out of his pocket?

Why would they reimburse? We are not talking a company driver here. We are talking two business working together. Why should business A (trucking company) pay for business B's (O/O) operating cost?
just_sayin, Lonesome and 51.50 Thank this. -
Partially because the OP is going thru the trouble of paying out of pocket for the privilege of working there.
Think of it as a ROI. -
As i stated above I can not get into too much details about this case. However all owner operators are responsible for their pre employment testing cost which we are too be reimbursed for and we cover all randoms and all tests after owner operator leases on. Every company has a different policy. In this case the owner operator took it in his own hands to find a place to go get a drug test without prior approval of a hiring manager. Despite that we still made an effort to work with the owner operator and get the drug test done, after the test was done we informed the owner operator that we are still waiting on his previous employer to return his previous history paper. We told him that it can take up to 1 week and that he is welcome to contact his previous companies to remind them to return the paper. Sometimes it helps when a contractor contacts the previous company as long as the previous lease was terminated on good terms.
Thank you all. I believe we have answered all questions as well as we could.just_sayin Thanks this. -
An owner operator or company driver is NOT allowed to pay for a drug test out of pocket as that would lead to troubles with the chain of custody. That is why i stated above that we have a policy where the owner operator must reimburse us for the cost of a pre employment test. Now if an owner operator takes in into his or hers hands to find a place to test then we can NOT recognize that drug test as a valid test.

In the end we did not steal from the owner operator. We simply told him that he would have to reimburse us for the cost of the test. We are actually a very transparent company, all of our owner operators get emailed rate confirmations, can come into office at any time to see invoices for their loads, have permission to see what the cost of their IRP plates by having the state fax the invoice over while they are there, many time we give our owner operators money out of our pocket just so they can take a load, interest free loans, no charge fuel cards, we sometimes even waive fees on damaged equipment even if the owner operator is responsible for it.

Need some updating on this company. Really thinking to lease on with them. Thank you.

Considering the OP never even gave a rebuttal to the companies rebuttal I wouldn't put any merit into what he said. Just another O/O that has no business being in business.

Something may have happened. At the time he was coming back out after surgery. This thread dates back a couple years.

The thread is but his post was Oct. 30th and the company responded 2 weeks later and he never rebuked their statements. So unless he died during that 2 week period that tells me he probably read it and knew he had outed. Probably thought they would never see his original post.
