Wondering how you work out getting your showers on the road, figure there is some way of getting around paying 10 dollars everytime. I know you get free with fuel, but how much, say you put in 20 or 30 gallons, that enough or do they have a minimum, or maybe they give credit say you had a shower this morning at home and stopped and fueled up do they give you a voucher or anything?

Usually a 50 gal minimum.
Most/All truck stops provide you with a "frequent shopper" card now. they load the showers on it, some expire in 5 days, others in 7 days.
CRST has been known to ask that drivers not be given points and showers, for fuel discounts. Not sure if they still maintain that policy anymore though. -
Some places are 50 gallons, some are 75 gallons.
Places like Loves, Pilot, TA, Petro and the Flying J has frequent fueler cards that keep a shower on it for about a week. -
Generally, the shower credits are good for one week.

Thanks for the info, figured it worked something like that. Now an ad on question, how much would you otr drivers figure you spend on showers a month? Trying to get a budget together, know it will be off but trying to put it together.

Less than $10 in 30 days out. I use the card at truck stops, and our terminal showers.
I occasionally get hit with paying for it out of my pocket. But rarely. -
The biggest expence you will have on the road is food. Like everyone has already stated, showers will be free for the most part. I bring some non parishable food with me and microwave safe dishes to heat it up at truck stops. I do eat fast food but try to eat my store bought food at least once a day, this saves me about $10/day and I have a 12v cooler to keep drinks in.
One more tip I can give you is try and shower during the day, this will save you time because at truckstops if you try to shower during the evening rush you will have to wait. I hope this has helped you, good luck.JustSonny Thanks this. -
In the 4 years I was OTR out of my 5 total, I don't think I've spent more than $100 on showers.
Keep in mind, if you do pay for showers (or anything else while on the road) save your receipts and deduct it at the end of the year.
