Also when you are sitting all day don't you feel like you need to take a walk or run or some exercise? Do you take a break every few hours like 3,4, 5 hours?

Look for a company that does Intrastate or local.

I don't. I stop and get out of the truck every couple hours.

You can sleep in any truck. Some are even designed for it with sleeper berths and the like. You can also go without a permanent address, but there are tax issues with that one.

I go weeks without talking to my terminal manager. I text my Driver Manager daily.

It's not the size of the muscle that matters. If you'll note - weight lifters and body builders look a LOT different. Body builders do lots of reps with light weights. Weight lifters do few reps with heavy weights

But - to more accurately answer: it depends on the company. 99% of loads my company carries are "no touch". Driver is *expected* to stay the heck out of the trailer. Dance694U, on the other hand, works for a company where he is expected to handle the load.
He's probably in better shape than I am, but I need fewer showers.

Not while I'm driving, no. At least, not to the point where I am unaware of my surroundings. I do, occasionally, daydream about running over that moron in the car ahead of me...

I don't do audio books - I have nearly 50 years of habit that involves paying attention to what I'm reading (or being read). If I feel the need, I'll drop in a CD or turn on the radio. Talk channels are out, for me. To much like telephone - there's a person speaking to me, so I must pay attention.

I tend to walk a few miles at the end of the day. I stop, do my paperwork, relax a few minutes, then go for a long walk. If it's not too hot, that is. During the course of the day - rarely more than a few hundred yards

More on the butt/spine hurting I didn't mention - if you have your seat adjusted properly, any discomfort should be minimized, if not eliminated. Generally, this means your upper leg should be parallel to the floor, fully supported by the seat - but your feet should not "dangle" - they should rest flat on the floor.

Of course, some of us can't do that and drive - if I set up properly, my eyes are above the upper edge of the windshield and I can't see far enough down the road to drive safely.

After you have a few years on the road you will learn when to be in the zone and when not too. I am not talking about not paying attention. I am always aware of my surroundings, but, if you stay in the zone all the time you will be tense and become tired. Just like a trained fighter. You fight in spurts. Otherwise you will wear yourself out...:biggrin_25520:

What kind of paperworks do truckers have to do?

What are some disadvantages of being a truck driver as well as advantages?

I'm guessing the advantages would be that you don't have worry too much about your job as a student about his grades and a company worker about his business?

Also that you have substantial leisure to listen while at your job?

Have to pay more taxes? How much more? Still cheaper than living in an apartment right?

What's the average hours that truck drivers drive everyday (11hrs?) and do you have time for internet? Carry laptop in trucks and then do internet in WiFi spot?

Do you ever have to drive through the night?

There are times when it's required. There's been times when I started my trip at night, but was able to work my time back to being able to drive in the day time and still get my load to its final on time.

Hope this helped and made sense.

Also what is the salary like? I read that after 2 years your salary is $50,000? Sounds too good to be true.
