That's true Mack E-6....and there was a time in the early years of my career that I was willing to stay out two weeks (never three on purpose) at a time to get the long runs and see the country.....but that got old quick.
After that I seeked out regional and "out & back" companies so I can be home on weekends.
Got to a point that if I couldn't get home on weekends, I would find someone that could get me home.

That's how I've been since I bought my house LOL. Dispatcher said "man you know I've been getting you home every weekend!" I replied "isn't that what the sign right up the road says? HOME WEEKENDS!? I'm not dispatched out of Mondovi MF. You don't pay me enough to be gone away from my residence like that!"

No more problems from him lol. I guess he got customed to me being gone 2 weeks at a time for them SoCal money runs. Once that became inconsistent AND I bought my house... F OFF MF!

YOU allowed yourself to run illegally. That's not in compliance with federal laws. You are protected against a company forcing you to run. What is the big leverage they have besides firing you if you don't take this unlawful trip?

Dispatchers are a necessary stink with trucking, especially if you run across a bad one. Don't become a bad driver.

They can, and do, starve you for miles, and force you to quit so they can put some other shlub in that truck. You know it as well as I do.

They wont be getting away with it come i think august of 2017, Electronic logs will be mandatory. You can't cheat the computer logs because they monitor when the truck is moving.

eLogs have nothing to do with dispatcher's starving you for miles.
Or did you quote the wrong reply?

I was talking about them forcing you to quit by making you run illegal, Once the elogs take effect they wont be able to force you to run illegal anymore.

    x1Heavy Thanks this.
