Point well taken brother!!!! I have to admit I have read the stories of guys being held up at the shipper or receiver and then fall behind schedule. And unfortunately it all comes down on the driver.....I am sure your bills don't stop as well as all of ours.....I am not sure of the answer to make dispatchers know what you guys go through. I know we can't eat patched I know I have a 2 in my locker at work that was given to me for safe driving ....whoopee lol. My initial post was for guys having to drive at 62 mph and how I thought it was unsafe because I did it and I was s o sleepy from going so slow.....when I used to get below greensboro,nc the speed was 75......and there I was 62 and bored out of my frigging mind....drive safe

I agree with that 62MPH in a 70 or 75 MPH zones sucks big time.

I don't really care how fast my truck goes. The difference between 63 and 65 doesn't matter much to me. My company policy is no faster than 65 at any time. I actually got routed into a terminal so that they could "make sure I hadn't modified my truck" because I was so over the 65 limit too much. I just don't brake downhill until I hit the speed limit wherever I am (75 in NM and AZ, where I drive most).

Don't communicate with your drivers and it won't matter who is writing the check. Picking up and delivering freight pays truck payments. Not someone sitting behind a desk holding a pen.

Good for you, but carriers such as Pumpkin show a loss of around 60 hours per year at just 2 mph difference. They save money in fuel cost and the driver looses whatever miles he could of covered in those 60 hours.
Now of course most drivers will just cook the books to make up the looses and the company's know it. So no need to compensate you for the time and or miles lost.
Call me selfish but I am not a O/O or do I own the company. I was hired to move freight from point A to point B and be compensated based on miles not hourly. With this in mind I don't care what your fuel cost are. I am their to move freight and make money, period. The sooner I get the delivery done the sooner I can run my next load.
You want to whine to me about fuel cost? Put a APU on the frame and pay me by the hour and I will never Idle and I will run freaking 50mph if that is what you want.AfterShock Thanks this. -
Wow, 'm sorry that the company didn't tell you that they were turning down the trucks that they paid for. Perish the thought of an owner of something doing with it as he wishes.
