I was about a mile away from the Georgia Pacific plant in Toledo, OR.
The GPS Sent me down a restricted road that was off limits to trucks greater than 60 feet in length. I saw the sign and pulled over, but there wasn't room to get turned around. Go figure, but no excuse I know.
Anyway, I ended up getting a ticket for " Driving off the designated truck route" Fine was $260, which I paid. I was upset by this and turned in the truck a few days later.
I'm now wondering how damning this type of ticket is on my record?
I also have an overweight ticket from Georgia last year.
Any insight would be appreciated.

I got one a number of years back, went down a street that cuts through from our yard to a major road. knew I shouldnt have done it but did and paid the price when I saw the lights behind me. many jobs later and it never came up as an issue even when I went to a company driving a gas tanker.
VA CDL Holder Thanks this. -
Neither one counts as a moving violation so I don't think you should have any problems.Rusty Trawler and VA CDL Holder Thank this.

They're not moving violations so they won't appear on your MVR.
They might appear on your CSA if you got inspected.Rusty Trawler Thanks this. -
Probably going to be listed as disobeying a traffic control device. It's going to be on MVR, but I doubt anything else. I got something similar and that's the only place it showed up.

I do not think the cop even ran my license. If they get one truck a day it is a tremendous revenue source for the town.
Anyway, its not the money, it is the fact that this is leverage for a company to use against me in the future. -
It won't hurt your future prospects. Just be a bit more careful in the future. GPS are great tools but they can bone you in a flash

Unless you got inspected. THERE'S NO record. Not for the overweight anyways. The other ticket could have easily been for failure to obey a traffic sign.

So you quit? Why......?KillingTime Thanks this.

I guess I felt like I was being used as a revenue source by the town. Lots of free miles to pay the price of that ticket.
Also, the cop should have just warned me, but he said "until I'm sitting in the mayors office, there is 100 percent enforcement of no trucks through town".
The ticket was a money ticket, plain and simple. At some point you get fed up with all the crap the job entails. Besides, I have a history of only working 3 months and quitting.
I drive just to stay in the game, so to speak.
