You know...It seems to me that if I opened a truckstop in this area, hired security, charged a decent price....I'd make a killing![]()

Ahh now not all bad, do know that the worst area is east/ southeast side, wouldnt stop there for anything. And what sucks too, they closed the nb rest area on 85, I used to stop there and get a nap when I couldnt make it all the way home. Luckly the company I am going with has a terminal in ATL so will be good. But I agree wouldnt stop in ATL would go out of town to one of the stops, decent pilot at exit 129 about 30 miles up on 85 and know there are some up 75 as well. No way I would stop anywhere on 20 east until I was a good 30 miles out of town. But 75 n and s are okay about 5-10 miles out from 285. -
When down in Atlanta I park at our company terminal in Forest Park, no matter what. Our terminal has 24 hour security and no panhandlers, scruffy weirdos trying to sell you stuff, garbage, pee jugs, and no 10 dollar fee. And at the terminal I can have pizza or Chinese Food delivered if I want. And free internet access. Win-Win all around. And I can even fuel my truck there. I guess drivers in this company are fortunate that we have a yard down there. I won't park at any of the circle truck stops. You couldn't pay me to park there.

Used to live in Atlanta. Got a ticket for parking a bobtail in my own driveway. Moved shortly after that. Don't miss Atlanta at all.

i have been driving back and forth over to atl from alabama for the last 4 years and i agree none of the truck stops are worth a crap i would tape my eyes open and drive before i stayed in one of them. o and lets not forget the citgo and the qt on fulton indust. lot lizard heavon all most as bad as the ta was before they closed it down. i talked to a tow truck driver after they closed the ta and ther were about 15 stolen trucks that had been abbaondoned at the ta that had to be towed. the security gaurds that they are supposed to have at the piolots are just as scared to walk out at night as any truck driver lol

Actually, I have found the Petro, if you can find a slot because it's often full, to be OK. It's possible to stand on the curb in front and catch a bus direct to a MARTA station. That's pretty good for a metro area truck stop in my experience. Being able to get out the sleeper berth for action downtown is pretty hard for a trucker to do.
