I was approved by Lone Mountain, found a truck I was interested in and placed a deposit on it, They did send me the full vin number and I did a check on it, zero issues of concern on report.
I received email notification that truck would be ready for pickup so I purchased airline ticket and hotel reservations. I was then notified that truck wouldn't be ready for a few days and they offered me another truck, it had about 100,000 more miles on it and the vin number came back with a DOT recordable accident, so I declined that vehicle. I traveled as planned to pick up truck, upon arriving I find out the few extra days would turn into a week or possibly longer.
Since I already paid for the airline ticket and few days of hotel, I thought they would be willing to pay for the hotel, they weren't interested, So I told the sales person I expected a full refund and walked out. I did email the owner about the situation and he responded back fairly quickly, He was apologetic and offered to pay for the hotel but I already made arrangements to go home.
so from my experience, I would suggest to anyone that wants to do business with these people, be cautious when they give you dates about a truck being ready.
Walked away from Lone Mountain deal.

Just wondering if they told you it wouldn't be ready why didn't you just wait?
-
They kept changing the available date, changed several times and it really came down to a breakdown in trust.LGarrison, Socal Xpress and TequilaSunrise Thank this.
-
But what was the reason they gave for moving it back?
-
A delay in getting freightliner to approve repairs and make repairs, after that the truck would than go thru their shop for anything else, tires, oil change etc. however, they gave me a date of availability when none of this had even been done. That's what I had an issue with, if it ain't ready, don't say it is.

I bet the look of the salesman was priceless when you told him you expect a full refund on the deposit. Good on you man.

The Salesperson doesn't care, there's another person right behind the OP that will eventually purchase it.Eldiablo Thanks this.

I bet he did care. The problem is they deal with desperate people and they feel they have the upper hand. Also the owner of LM did respond to OP quickly.
MichiganOutLaw Thanks this. -
Doubtful, since at Lone Mountain you need to put a sizeable deposit down vs. going to a Common Carrier and not having to put any money down to get a Truck, even if it's a Lease.
Also Desperate People can find hundreds of Truck Dealers that will finance a truck for them. -
Good on you for sticking to your guns and walking off the deal. Don't be a doormat, vote with your feet. If they are unable to uphold their end at the beginning, I wouldn't hold much hope for the business relationship improving going forward.
Seriously, don't call the customer and say "The truck is ready" if it's not sitting on your lot ready to drive away.AModelCat and MichiganOutLaw Thank this.
