Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Truck stops conveniently located near Indian restaurants are to be cherished above all others, even if they are otherwise cramped, unsightly crapholes like this tiny little Pilot at exit 4 off 465 south of Indy.

In completely unrelated news I assure you, I now have enough butter chicken to choke a horse.

 

Did I pass any of you yesterday on 35 in W Virginia? What a mess!

 

Depends on when you got there. I made a U-turn circa 2:45pm and started heading the other way. And I did pass an Abilene truck going towards the mess shortly thereafter.

 

Not sure on the time but we were probably already stuck in it. Passed two other Abilenes on the way through.

 

It looks increasingly like I will be spending the night in this cramped, unsightly craphole of a Pilot.

Dropped a trailer full of Gatorade last night at the Ryder Beverage Distribution Center (or whatever it's called). In the absence of any further instructions (since I dropped the trailer around 9:00pm last night), I bobtailed out and spent the night at a nearby TA truckstop.

This morning, I get a message. "Did you grab an empty?" "No," I replied. "Go grab an empty" came the response.

So back down the road I go to grab an empty. Hooked up to an empty trailer circa 10:20am. (Amusingly, the empty I hooked up was the trailer I brought in last night.)

And then I sat there for three hours.

Eventually I figured that if I was gonna be sitting around somewhere, I could do so in a truck stop and at least get a shower. So off I go to this cramped, unsightly craphole of a Pilot. I've been here nearly two hours.

My well-developed ability to predict the future suggests that I will not get a load before tomorrow.

On the upside, I got a shower and some Indian food out of the deal. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

 

At Groveport... dropped an empty here and waited three hours... sent QC asking what the plan was for my last four hours... received 21 (TWENTY ONE) messages back basically telling me to take a load from here to the Wytheville Yard... LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Hey, I'm off to Wytheville... later taters!!!

 

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me the last time I was in Groveport, right down to the 21 messages all at once.

 

Heads Up South of Groveport.

Big accident on Rt 23 South of Groveport... one bigger truck (not semi) and four cars... road closed and they finally got us turned to go back north...

Out of Hours now so I'm parked for the night.
