We dont have many of them here at all, except in the Daf's i think. The Cummins would still be a better bet.

Examining the Factory data reveals the engine to be a redtop 600 horse. you can get it with rating up to 2050 pounds torque and maybe a bit more for really special applications like fire engine or tow recovery work. If you do this, you need a drive train that can take the load. This aint no POS 1350 company torque engine.

I think it's a nice engine, big horse and torque and all.. but you Aussies have Road Trains, which we don't and something like 3000 miles of dirt and cattle clear across your Country. I would be very careful what engine you pick. Cummins I think was from the Sea driving ships at one rpm for weeks and months. CAT comes up with horses in a hurry. And Detriot likes to lug. (Im not talking about ball peen hammer banging abuse Im talking about where it lugs to torque rpm and hangs there a while before you really have to shift.

The more horse you have the less work you have to ask of it, literally less fuel per hour. If you had a tiny 300 horse engine, your fuel burn will exceed 30 gallons an hour before it pants and fails like a overloaded horse in the heat. Savvy?

    How heavy do you run?
Changing a MX13 to EURO 5 will be easier(fixed turbo no egr no dpf)
Whatever you decide ,think long and hard.

With EURO 6 the danger is getting a engine that is overpowered.
It needs to work to get enough heat in the system to clean the dpf.
That is also why you do not idle them.

Yep. Its a 600hp at 2050 pounds torque. Similar specs to what we are used to in Australia. Most of out trucks are running between 500 to 600 hp for pulling road trains. I only pull singles but up on the weights (truck, trailer, load generally comes in at 46 ton all up). We run gearbox / diff ratios to give us about 1650 rpm at 100 kph (60 mile) and sit on that for periods of up to 5 hours at a time on the highways.

Yep. We gear everything totally different to you guys over there. Sitting them on 1600 to 1700 rpm all day long at 100 kph (60 mph) is standard.
