They sent me to Phoenix for orientation and 1 of like 12 people going flatbed in my orientation went with a flatbed mentor. I think there are like 10 in the whole #### fleet lol

I've spoken with my driver manager a couple times today about the situation and didn't hold back one bit. I have a delivery in Ft Worth Monday then he's going to get me routed back to the terminal.
What happens when I get there....we'll see. Hopefully he puts me with another trainer as opposed to sending me home.
Regardless, it's off my chest now.dunchues, Rusty Trawler, KillingTime and 2 others Thank this. -
Phoenix may be hq, but if you want to flatbed at swift get to Gary indiana. Can't throw a rock with out hitting a flatbedder there. at pheniox you can't throw a rock without hitting a window licker..... only thing I liked about hq was the Jake brake cafe and the unclaimed frieght style store. a buddy got a brand new washing machine for like 80$ lol I helped strap it to his catwalk and he got it home that wway

That's not acceptable being stuck in the cab 72 hours when trainer goes to family at home. In fact that's abuse. I would have quit. You will like flatbedding. But some of those coils are HUGE. You have been warned.
RedRover Thanks this. -
Lol, I remember my mentor told me 40,000 wasn't a heavy load
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Yeah that sucks, I try my hardest too get my drive hours in. Yet my mentor is already complaining we got another load heading too Gary Indiana. He's trying his hardest too take a 34 reset for no reason and we're no where near home. So I clearly don't see the point. Especially when were steady gaining hours back
RedRover, Rusty Trawler and Concorde Thank this. -
Really ####ed up thing is that Flying J is an hour from my house and my house was on the way to his house too. Didn't have time to take me. Also worth noting I will be put on a safety hold in a couple weeks if I can't get home to get the hard copy of my CDL and take it to the terminal.
Just made the same run from Denton to Lake Charles, Louisiana again with 3 stops. Same highway. I don't even need to GPS or map it by now. Is it weird that I actually like the thrill of not knowing where I will go next, where I will lay my head at or what the weather will do?
I hate the place I live in. Don't want to stay within 500 miles round trip of the place. Hell, I never wanted to come back. -
That's what's so good about OTR; can look all over the country for a nice area to settle in. That's what I did.Rocknroller4 and RedRover Thank this.

I did a lot of research before choosing my first job to train with and Swift was at the bottom of the list. I read so much crap about their training program and the trainers that I didn't want to be anywhere near them. Funny, now that I've been driving for a while, bar none the most trucks I see broken down on the road belong to Swift.Spent a few hours laid over at a Love's talking to a young woman who had been with Swift 5 months. Couldn't believe some of the crap she's put up with. I would have quit and moved on the first week.
