You could stop the meds. I know I keep repeating that. You will find life a sharper and more joyful time without it.
About once a month for a period of several weeks I don't have anything in my system, it is a way to stave off problems and be sharp. I like being sharp. I don't like my body due to the damage it accumulated over the years but hey, we all have to suck it up and deal with it. Im no buttercup.
In our day before 1994 CDL laws, I was taught how to drink and drive, if it takes 300 miles to sip a 6 pack to make the pain go away on really bad roads and no airride then that's what it took. Driving and drinking in a 18 wheeler did not have the stigma that it does today. The industry and community is so focused on safety. You cannot be screwed up.
There was a locomotive engineer on pot one night in Maryland back in Jan of 87 he ignored three specific railroad signals commanding him to stop and STAY. He not only failed to obey the first one but ran the next two until he crossed onto the actual mainline (A railroad form of highway) ahead of a rampaging passenger train at 100+ and hundreds of people aboard. It slammed into his three engine set and killed 100 and more.
Everything the industry was then ended that night and what it will become began that night.
If I was not a trucker I would have either been a railroader or a sailor. Life is too exciting to sit at home.
I'm prescribed Adderall and klonopin can I still drive? Will employers hire me?

"Exception. A driver may use such a substance or drug, if the substance or drug is prescribed by a licensed medical practitioner who:
Is familiar with the driver’s medical history and assigned duties; and
Has advised the driver that the prescribed substance or drug will not adversely affect the driver’s ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle."
Sooo..according to what you said the answer would be yes.. you can obtain a license and drive on adderall with a doctor's release.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
There's been no "hypocrisy" at all. You asked, and got several good, correct replies. The answer is no one knows. You'll need the letter from the prescribing physician saying you're fine on it and from there it's up to the company.
Unfortunately most companies won't take a chance on you but you might get lucky and find some that will. Either way, you have to put it on your long form.
It sucks because as you said, going off the meds can be very dangerous for someone.x1Heavy, Con-team and Kaseyjayyy Thank this. -
Please don't stop taking your anxiety medication based on what somebody online told you. If you do decide to come off of it, it takes a lonnnnnnnng time of tapering down.
Personally my dosage went up after I started this job- it can be very stressful at times -

There are so many natural remedies to go with instead of medication. Doctors want you to stay on meds or else they wouldn't have a job along with the pharmaceuticals. Medication is ok in case of an emergency. But not for the
long use. Have you not read warning labels when they issue them.....
WAKE UP PEOPLE !!!!!
Doctors don't and will never believe I'm natural medicine. They will tell you that there is not enough studies on it. It's all hog wash. They know it works, but they (doctors) want to lose your business.
Most meds destroy your liver and kidneys, that's why they will send you to do blood work (labratory) to follow up and see if any damage had occurred.bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
My main dr is a good friend from many years ago and wouldn't do that. Other dr's I would agree but not him.

Try a natural doctor . Yes, Holistic doctor. And yes, most insurance companies won't cover them because like I said, they don't want to lose the business. The medical field are like the MAFIA, they all work togetherLast edited: Dec 4, 2016
