Truck has a 320 AMP 3588319C92 Leece Neville alternator on it. His APU unit does not work but he still has the 8 batteries in truck. Can you disconnect the 4 batteries on passenger side (I am assuming these are for the APU) and put a regular alternator on the truck? If so what alternator would be best?
International wants almost 1200.00 for a 320 AMP alternator.

Look into aftermarket. Probably way cheaper than the a stealership.
-
Yes, you can disconnect those no problem and just a 22 SI or whatever fits.
Smellfunny Thanks this. -
Thanks Heavy. I knew you would know. I figured it would but better to get a second opinion.

Yes, I can't believe how expensive those are.

I disconnected and taped and tied up all of the battery cables in the battery box on passenger side. After disconnecting all batteries I found that 6 of 8 were bad. So I installed 4 new batteries on the driver side. I then installed a 8700018 - Delco Remy 35SI 140 Amp alternator. Everything is working like it should. I also was able to come up with an old alternator for him for no charge for a core. That saved him 150.00. (-minus the already not working APU which he did not want fixed)
