Not sure what you're talking about but if you bothered to read other posts in this forum by other more enlightened people than I you would find someone With a ham ticket incapable of talking from Drums Pennsylvania to Harrisburg Pennsylvania that said he could only talk half that distance on a good day. So I repeat myself that unless you do exactly what I did you would be much better off using a stock Cobra 29 than using a 10-meter export radio.. at least I'd be able to hear the Cobra 29 30 miles away on flat ground with a good antenna system as long as the radio hasn't been tampered with. The odds of you purchasing a 10-meter radio and having it tampered with by someone other than the guy that did mine and being heard by me 30 miles away or greater is pretty slim unless you are connected to a base antenna or you are in a car with a roof mount antenna. I've gotten pretty good at estimating odds and I've actually won a few bets telling people to put their money where their mouth is.
I hate to see people spend a bunch of money and not get their money's worth.

There's probably 7 or 8 different brand names that will be put on that radio ....
Striker is only one of those names.. Anytone makes radios for a bunch of different companies and they just slap the name on it
You wouldn't like that other radio because it's am and FM only

Gots a little time to kill this morning so sorry for the long post.

While that's a good point, the problem sits with your preformance vs. dollar when comparing ham radios to cbs. Most ham radios are multipurpose multi band devices, where a CB is specific to that band. Sure there is some narrow front ends on the ham radios and sure there are multi modes to be used but really the best bang for the buck no matter how anyone spins is comes back to the simple CB radio.

With a good tune and the right mods, the CB will outdo all the lower end ham radios, especially the ones with Chinese origin. While if you are getting into the higher end of the price range or specialized stuff like ddc Sdrs, the advantage seems to get smaller on preformance but larger on money end, a good icon 7100 or even a used 7000 is not as good as a properly tuned system with a CB radio that is properly tuned and modified on the CB band. There is a few exceptions on the preformance end, but then you are getting into the >$5000 radios.

Why is this when I kept saying all the time ham radio equipment is better?

Well I keep pointing out that these fake 10 meter rigs are designed to have wide receiver front ends, the same holds true for most Chinese radios. The icoms are setup for the ten meter band but preformance drops off when they go below 28 mhz and they don't tune in segments like they do above 28. The fake 10 meter rigs don't tune at all - it is wide and this is where sensitivity and selectivity suffer. Compare that to a good old 29, that radio is made for a narrow band width (just less than 500 kcs) and has the if strip to back it up.

Now I am really against the fake 10 meter rig thing more for the fact that they are not 10 meter rigs and that some of them sound like crap on the air without a good tune, some can't even get close.

Many many of my contacts on 10 are made with a CB converted that I use at home and tuned right for the small bandwidth I use, it has an fm converter and does about 5 watts out but I can adjust it and often do less than 2.

Why would I use that when I have all this other stuff?

Because it is cheap and it works good. I will sometimes use the little cheap sdr in place of it to enjoy something different or I will fire up something big to play with but normally it is this little CB. I also been using the 10 meter version of the CB design we are testing. It does what it's supposed to do and does it well, comparably to a good CB conversion.

I agree with that a stock almost anything is better off left alone. a twekee pekee is just stealing people's $$$$ basically.... if a radio doesn't come with a talk back or echo why pay to put one in. just buy a radio that already has it built in........in the first place

Hardly anybody makes their own products anymore. Same goes for TV sets. Magnavox doesn't even make TVs anymore they're made by other manufacturers and they just stick the name on it. The same goes for kitchen appliances

I think that's a repackaged Chinese radio. I got some cut sheets (promo lit) somewhere from some off the wall company who is making them and selling them. I don't even think they are type accepted.
