My company is forcing us to have the TWIC card. We have to pay for it out of our own pockets with NO reimbursement. If we don't have it by December 1, we are out of a job. I have not applied for mine yet. I'm waiting until the last minute in a sign of protest.

Do not wait to late. You do not get the card they day you apply. It takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks to get the card.

I know it takes some time for the card. This is the first time I have had a disagreement with my company and I have been there for 2 years now so I will not be looking for another job. I am just disappointed in the company for not taking our suggestions in helping out with the fee and with my co-workers for not taking a stand and just accepting it as a part of the job.

It took me about two months to get mine. A friend of mine (longshoreman) had his in 10 days. They told me they would notify me when mine was ready but after not hearing from them I went online and found mine was ready. I imagine wait times will get longer as the deadline nears.

This is just another fee, same as CDL, hazmat, physicals etc..
