To be legal, if NOT braced against forward movement, you want two straps for the first 10 feet of each lift, then one more strap for every section of 10 feet after that. So 12 foot lifts need 3 straps. 20 foot lifts need 4.
The lifts on the lead look like 12 footers with some 8's at the back. Pup looks like a mix of 12's and 8's.
When it comes to lumber on B-trains, I usually fills most of the winches. For example, if I have 8's on the whole set, the lead would have 18 lifts, and the pup would be 16-18 (depending on density).
I'd have on belly strap over the bottom four lifts, then three over top. Two over each set of four in the middle, then three over the back. On the pup, I would have three over the first set, two over the middle, and same as the front of the lead on the rear of the pup. So 18 straps in total. You aren't far off, just add one more on those longer lifts "just in case".
Always better to have too much than too few. I did a load of steel on B-trains last night and have 12 straps on each trailer. B-trains aren't for the lazy. -
Thanks, yea I added 2 more to the longer lifts. That's all the straps I had lol. Not set up for btrain work since I usually use chains for most of the work we do lolZeviander Thanks this.

No worries. My company prefers us use almost double the regs, but getting 24-26 straps would be best for B-train work if you see yourself doing it some more. It's better than running out and playing the paranoia game.
