I doubt many gauge every tire every time. A good 3lb hammer and a little practice will detect a tire that's a bit low though.
I get a 'kick' out of those who literally kick the tires.
Just hit pole at shipper. What now

That's called changing the subject.
We are talking about a bent rim. One bent rim. For that you want to blacken someone's driving record for the next ten years. That's why drivers are going to lie to you. You can wave around all the safety department bumper stickers you want but you're not addressing the problem. The problem is that the consequences are completely out of proportion to the infraction.
Oh and don't throw the DOT regulations into it. If big carriers don't like the laws they bought they should go back and buy some new ones. It isn't the drivers' fault big carriers have painted themselves into a corner in their attempt to suppress competition for drivers between carriers.
Which brings us once more to this...
Has the average quality of drivers improved since the DAC was implemented? You keep saying you want honesty.Grouch and Ketchikan baby Thank this. -
I drive school buses right now but looking towards trucking. When I first started had trouble with rh turns too. I knocked over a stop sign with rear wheels and then came w/in 10" of a telephone pole while driving with trainer both while making rh turns. They thought I was not using my 'reference points.' What I discovered was I was not holding my lane. In both instances something/someone had moved into the space I was trying to use and I reverted to small car mode i.e. I tried to 'dodge' the object because I was self conscious of blocking traffic until THEY moved out of the way.
I learned to be a space hog. I now have no problem with taking up as much room on the road as I need to do a maneuver. I signal that I'm not moving until they go around me, back up, or whatever they need to do to clear my path by setting my brakes, visibly taking my hands off the steering wheel, crossing my arms and looking away. They always get the message. I learned my lesson: I will NOT be pushed by traffic to perform any maneuver without the space I need.Chewy352 and TaterWagon#62 Thank this. -
I learned to get over that feeling REAL fast as a school bus driver. I don't care HOW I look now as long as every move I make puts safety first. It's the absolute bottom line.TaterWagon#62 Thanks this.

Two wrongs don't make a right but three lefts do

On the contrary. This is a new driver who wants to learn from their mistakes. That's the mindset of a professional imo.Big Don, TaterWagon#62 and spyder7723 Thank this.

@Xzay I wanted to post this the other day for you but this is the soonest I had the right combination of data and time. Whenever you're in a tight spot, take every inch you can. Everything that can move will move to make room for you.
Recognize anything or anyone @passingthru69?
Ketchikan baby, TripleSix and Xzay Thank this.
