That is sad.
Not sure what the temperature has to do with the baby's death tho... I find it unlikely the cab didn't have heat.... Just dumb reporting. -
I'm just "shooting in the dark here", but they didn't say the kiddo was in a safety seat of any kind. I can imagine a kiddo playing around on the rear bunk, and hitting their head hard enough on a cabinets to cause some damage. Or even just breaking their neck falling from the bunk to the floor... it's not like these trucks ride smooth.
not4hire and KillingTime Thank this. -

Something along those lines. The child at 18 months is too old for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Most, 90%, of those cases occur prior to 6 months old.

Me suspects foul play. But beyond that the whole "story" smells of poor parenting and decision-making, at best
Carrot Thanks this. -
Keywords right there.
Who takes a 10 year old and a 18 month old on a haul with them anyway? I mean if company allowed it or even if your O/O I can understand taking the 10 year old. But 18 months is way too young and four people in a truck is just too many. -
Considering it's Werner the parents might have been more or less homeless. Father gets a "high paying" trucking job and suddenly the mother is no longer eligible for section 8. (New Haven is a pretty poor city, lots of poverty)
Or maybe he took them along for sight seeing on a short haul?
Either way it's a sad story.
