We are old school we want everyone driver to make it at least that is what I want to see I don't give out my truck number because I don't want nothing to give someone good advice because I did not pay for it my friend is know in is late 77 now and I can still call him and ask him advice just like you may not know that in the winter when you park to release your trailer park because it will freeze if you use your trailer park brake make sure you have a hammer good luck driver

Right well I think I'll step away from the cliff then. It's definitely a good thing I posted this.

Owning or leasing a truck is the heaviest set of handcuff you can imagine, if you care about avoiding bankruptcy. There is no "make big money" and "have lots of time off" option in trucking that I know off. Work as a company driver at a company that wants to keep you happy, not try to get 1 good ear out of you before you leave. It's a world of difference from no miles at a bottom-feeder company. Nobody treats a "rent-a-car" as well as they treat their "restored clasic" car. Good trucking companies know how to run trucks efficiently and the best companies want to keep their drivers. Find one.

Yeah that's what I'm coming around to. Finish my one year and move on but stay as a company driver. Love the signature by the way haha

Well I'm definitely scared $hitless to run owner operator now!

Ask yourself why there are about 100 times more videos on YouTube of drivers just starting out as a lease-operator than there are drivers telling about paying off their truck. I think 70% of lease-operators do not complete their lease. Some drivers use a short-term lease as a way to get a bankroll to buy a used truck and begin owner-operator trucking. But you have to pay attention to the calendar and time it to maximize your time between tax bills. And you have to bank all that extra pay until AFTER you pay your taxes. Anybody can live like a pimp before the IRS collects their share. First-timers will not make it to year #2 and live large, but that's not in the videos on YouTube.

This is a very good tread. Excellent advice given in a positive clear manner. The OP is blessed with a sharp, forward thinking mind that is open to the wisdom of those who have walked the trucking trail.
    Best of fortune Rotek.
