I do think that our co somewhere down the line is going to get an incentive from ins co for going with e-log or a huge increase if they don't.

    The incentive is more like

"you will put them in or we won't renew your policy ...."

Why worry about the E-log. Your home every night ... The only thing that might screw you up is the 14 hour clock...

The vin had a y so not buying. Really like the looks of it. E logs won't affect me much. I drive 360 to 400 miles a day. Though I leave a lot earlier to beat the traffic, be the first one to load/unload. I'd Rather be at receiver in bunk for 2-3 hours than shifting from 1st gear thru 5 for an hour or 2. I am home everyday, but that can change

Yeah I drive 3 hours to receiver, than 2 miles to reload than 180 miles to unload, then 16 miles home. It's the waiting at shipping/ rec plus the time I start that could affect my legal time

Not knocking anyone here specifically but I don't get why so many don't get the 99 or older exemption. It's really not that hard to understand. I swear every 2000 model truck that pops up for sale on facebook will have at least one guy asking about manufacture date. I wonder how many will buy a 2000 model thinking they've dodged the eld mandate only to find out the cold hard truth then. It's not like the info isn't out there.

My own personal belief, and I may be biased owning a newer truck, is going out and spending money on an older truck is not good business just to avoid an eld. Do you seriously think this exemption will last? Trust me, those greasing the wheels to make all this happen are already ahead of you in their thinking. As has been mentioned already I believe insurance companies will make older trucks more expensive to operate from the get go. It will only be a matter of time until they twist the screws tighter and make it so you'll comply or update equipment.

Don't get me wrong, if I had a 99 or older I'd be hanging on to it until the bitter end. But, I wouldn't give up what I've got to go get one or pay some inflated price for one if I were in the market. We all as owner operators, whether leased or independent, should be using our time and energy to battle back against this garbage. And that starts with knowing your ish.
