there's a free NYC truck map
    http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trucks.shtml

you can also ask them and they'll send you free paper copies of it. Local advice is good as you got above, but that's a handy thing to have around in case you make a mistake and have to figure something out.

Easiest way is to take 95 to 278 into the city.

The big toll is $105 on the Goethals bridge (on I-278 )- crossing from NJ into NYC.

There are various tolls on 95 coming from the south. You have NJ turnpike, Delaware Memorial Bridge, and the Maryland ones. As the others have said, $200 should have you covered for tolls.

Need to know starting point to be more accurate......ans so many except NYC tolls can be avoided...also address on 57th....which could be accessed from 278 or 495 depending....but Outerbridge...rt440 to 287...over Verrazano is best bet in....but not out...let us no

It's a minimum of $100 just going over the George Washington bridge. Have at least $300 on hand.

I've been across all 3 from Jersey to Staten Island, same cost on each.

Verrazano is free inbound, but outbound costs double what the other tolled Long Island Sound bridges do, which are tolled both ways. Tribourough-RFK, Whitestone, and Throg's Neck are the others. I stayed out of Manhattan except on 95.

Once across the Sound, you stay north and drive out for nothing outbound on the George Washington. I figured out where I was going and generally avoided or at least minimized use of toll roads, although bridges have to be crossed.

I would go Outer Bridge, to Verrazano (free in). If you can, leave over the Throgs Neck, or Whitestone which either are about $45. Then if you want, take the George Washington ( free out).
