Ha Handsome: Your looks don't do much for me but nice glasses. Welcome aboard!
Astro on the other hand does bring back memories. Interior is in unbelievable condition.
Yes hard on fuel. Does not like bridge beams, train axles and such. However most people reading have no idea with the right rears that is a 100 MPH truck and it would do it all day.
If that POA valve craps out let me know. I can tell you how to work around it. Take special care of that interior, those dash pads were hard to find 25 years ago.
You can black out a good bit of the bottom and some of the top of the glass to help with the green house effect if you want to.
Thanks for sharing, good luck and hope to see you around.

A AMC pacer on steroids. Lol
Looks in great shape. Enjoy. .....
.Brutally_Handsome and 201 Thank this. -
Oh I forgot: About those magnetic door signs. Are you sure those doors are steel?
Brutally_Handsome Thanks this. -
Love it ! I learned to drive in a 74 Astro 318 detriot 13 sp.
Brutally_Handsome Thanks this. -
Nice find! I like it. Although I'm not a big fan of Reyco 4 spring suspension.
And I'd want front brakes.....I remember the days of trucks with no front brakes. I think they went faster when you stepped on the brakes in rain or snow, LOL.
I also disagree about an 8V71 or 92 not having enough power. I drove a few that were plenty strong. Just not great on fuel mileage. But you'll still be way ahead versus the downtime loss with these new trucks.Brutally_Handsome Thanks this. -
I don't want to be next to you on a cold morning when you fire that ole up lol
Brutally_Handsome Thanks this. -
Glad you like to, I myself would never own another one of those again.

Thank you for the welcome Semi Retired! Luckily hauling household in my 51 footer' I'm never loaded to heavy, on average probably around 20-25k tops. And the air ride drivers seat is still in great shape so far. I can't wait to hook up to my wagon and pull the first load. I'll make sure to keep the thread updated with how she pulls!
I know what you mean, when I first went to test drive it I felt like the cab was tilted 45% with all of that glass.
True, I've already started a list of backup parts to collect. If anyone has any good resources or references to junk yards that might have this late of supply please let me know!
Thanks for the welcome! got the name from the Eagles, Life in the Fast Lane:
"...He was a hard-headed man he was brutally handsome, And she was terminally pretty..."
Swapping the rear gears is one of the top things on my list for this summer. According to the build sheet it has 4.33 Rears right now. Any good recommendations on a suitable ratio for my type of hauling? (Bedbugging) I know to figure it out right one would need horse/trans/tire size/weight info which I will be better able to supply later, but still worth getting the gears spinning early.
I just ran out in the rain with a fridge magnet to double check, and we're good! doors are the only thing that's not aluminum.201 Thanks this. -
Took advantage of the decent weather today by sanding and painting the drives. Who knew Rustolium makes chrome for us poor people! I give it one year tops. might do a quick sand blast and re-spray on the frame before busy season. we'll see.

With a single overdrive 13 I think you'll be about where you want to be with 4.33 rears. How fast you thinking you are gonna be rollIng? I had 4:55 tears with my silver 92. That was a bit over geared. Is yours a turbo'd motor?
