my 959 is in the shop due to the lights going out in the entire radio, so I pulled my cobra 29 nightwatch (circa 2000) out of the closet 3 weeks ago, and have been running that. I was having a problem hearing anyone past 3-4 miles from me, which is no big deal cause all I mostly use the #### thing for is my escorts, but I eventually wanted to do something about it. had some time today and took to the guy inside the TA here in Baltimore. $40 for a re-alignment, and all I can say is WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I totally recommend this guy, if you're in the area and need some work done.

What can you hear now that you were not able to hear before?

I was wondering about that shop. Did you happen to catch hours while you were there?

did a few radio checks last night with some guys going south thru Bmore, switched to a different channel, I can now hear out to 10-12miles. this with decent coax, and a 4' Wilson 2000 on a bird perch.

didn't catch his hours, will go in for coffee this AM and find out. I was really impressed, but then shouldn't all radio shops b able to do this kind of service?

I'm very happy you managed to get it sorted.

3 or 4 miles or so in Baltimore is about what you would get out of it, if you were west like 100 miles from anything you can do better 15 miles maybe.

Let us know how far you can reach with that new work that you had done with it. My Uniden was usually good for 20 miles when there is little to no interference that far out.

Good luck to you. Always happy to hear of good work done by people who demonstrate a love of the craft.

that guys been in that shop forever I walked in there one time and the shop was a cluster muck.walked up to a glass case with two Stryker radio's in it very good price $$$ I must say for either one both were new in the box. the guy says may I help you he pretty much freaked me out I thought I was the only one in the shop. he was back behind the counter hidden behind all the junk radios and old mics he had all over the place in there.....
