Cao Dewang, a Chinese auto glass tycoon has caused a stir by shifting part of his manufacturing empire to the United States and setting up a factory in Ohio. He says the reasoning behind is simple, that is to avoid hefty taxes and soaring labor costs at home.

Many Chinese companies have moved to America or opened additional factories in America to compliment the home factory in China. This isn't in the news because it isn't politically correct. There's about 3 in Georgia and a few in Ohio and California. Plenty more in other states. I think in Oakwood, GA is a factory that exports wooden chopsticks to China.
The blue collar Chinese workers are screaming and kicking about all this as they are gradually becoming unemployed.

I think we're going to see this increase, with not only China but other countries, but not for the reasons he mentioned, "Heavy taxes and soaring labor costs at home," but likely due to increased tariffs that may be coming for imported goods... Also, U.S. companies that moved operations and jobs overseas are likely gonna feel the burn initially alright....Many years ago I hauled Spinach out of southeast CO, the Alamosa area if I recall correctly.....Those farms were all owned and run by the Japanese, but worked by Mexicans....

All my life I've been told that things like the economy are cyclical. If this is true with China outsourcing to America, could we be seeing the 2nd rise of "Made in America"?

May be the second rise since we're going to have a decent administration now. Probably won't see a rise in trinkets manufacturing, but probably will in the more technical fields. High schools need to put more focus on the trades and less on a formal education, but that probably won't happen as long as so many parents think their child is the next Albert Einstein.

I left heavy equipment manufacturing in early 2008. At that time the company was moving a production line to China. A supervisor who worked for me at the time has kept in touch over the years. He said when he went to China as part of the move, a higher up guy working on the move from the China side told him that he figured in eight or ten years, manufacturing was probably going to be moving from China back to the States. He said China was beginning to experience all of the things that drove jobs out of America, over regulation, labor unions, too many consumers trying to ride on the back of each producer, etc.
