Kymi, don't waste your time trying to get a load by calling your DM. The only thing they'll do is message a planner if they even bother doing that. The planners ignore those messages because they simply don't have time to read and respond to thousands of requests for loads. Your DM is worthless for anything except fixing QC problems.
Use macro 10 to message the planner for your area. They seem to respond well to messages that politely ask for a load where you'd like to go. Also, use macro 34 to verify your PTA is set where you want it.
Even if you might not want to go there remember the terminals on the border with Mexico almost always have freight except for Sunday and Monday. The cross border freight goes out to most of the country. Ask the planners for loads to Laredo or El Paso and bounce from there.

Good advice Frank.
Except when there is no freight in your area to get you there.
There will be many drivers waiting on available loads this month. Probably next month as well.
I won't be hounding the planners, or my DM, trying to get me ahead of the line of waiting drivers. I consider that rude, to say the least. -
I was home for new year's for 4 days. Nice red Bordeaux, mesquite smoke stakes with dry rub. Chicken parmesan with a few red table wines. Dressed up as king diamond for new year's. Then attempted to destroy the matress. Nursing a shoulder injury, after things got a bit too exciting.
Now I'm running tombstones to Boise. Somewhere north of wells NV, caught up in the snow. I'll tackle it by daylight, I'm not much for driving by braile on 93. -
GLR (regional division). Macro 10 does not work. Not going to go to the truck without a plan. I'll take an extra day off. Yesterday was a holiday for the terminals, I received a plan right at 8am this morning with return to normal staffing.

At Decatur, Ga terminal this place is packed.
-
I'll get a 34 before my next load, which I almost turned down.
I could have easily made the delivery time in GA on Thursday, but the pplan had me t-calling in KS just after pick up on Wednesday.
I think the t-call was to give me a few more miles for the pay period, and I needed that.
This is one of the few times I will be requesting layover pay. I need that too with the low miles I have been getting. -
I also learned, at least so far, that once I disable the idle shut down with the throttle trick it stays that way even if I let it go.
Meaning...
If I wedge my thumper in to hold down the throttle a little to disable the shut off, then remove it later to let the idle go back to normal, it still does not shut off. -

Ontario OR rest area, no more hours to burn. Got stuck in the snow in meridian ID at my final. Fortunately someone had dirt. I rocked and shoveld and finally got it going. Hopefully the roads are in better condition in the morning. Boise was pretty slick for awhile, but it's not so bad further out, the salt shakers got loose and are making good progress. -
Edwardsville terminal.
It turns out this load wasn't for the reason I thought.
Late this morning I got a QC message telling me that I had 0000 days to get a CA bit inspection. I was put on hold just after I picked it up.The load was just to get me here to do it.
No previous messages about it.
I got it done very quickly. They got me right in. -
Still in Ontario. I started my pretrip this morning, discovered I had no trailer markers. Had break lights and signals. But no markers or plate light. And I'm in a snow storm, reduced visability here all day. Which means I need my lights. Loves guy came from like 5 miles away, confirmed the trailer was the problem. Couldn't do anything, escorted me to thier shop with his beacons. Looked the trailer over, turns out the trailer was brought in by the driver I repowered it off of, for the same problem, his truck is down for electrical problems. So they couldn't do anything. Now I'm sitting at Kenworth in Ontario waiting patiently.
I was told by the guy at loves that he suspects the short is in the apron/5th wheel plate. Which is naturally one of the few places the wires aren't easily accessible on this skateboard.
